Kawasaki Webike Trickstar fifth at Spa

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit, nestling in the heart of the Ardennes, hosted the 8 Hours of Spa, round two of the FIM EWC season held on 6 and 7 June 2025.

The Kawasaki Webike Trickstar team joined the 43 other teams competing on this demanding legendary track, with the aim of staying at the front after their second place in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Frenchman, Grégory Leblanc had the tough task of being the first to start aboard the #11 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR. At 12.30pm, he got off to a cautious start from ninth on the grid, before finding his pace and completing his stint without a hitch. His team-mates Mike di Meglio and Christian Gamarino also set solid lap times, and the Franco-Japanese team took advantage of the first heavy shower at around 15-00 local time to move into the top five. Concentrating on their objective, the riders managed to avoid the pitfalls of a track whose grip constantly alternated between dry and wet until the end of the race.

Thanks to the combined efforts of the three riders and the technical team, who never let up, the #11 Kawasaki crossed passed the chequered flag in fifth place. The Webike Trickstar Kawasaki therefore picked up an additional 17 points from the Belgium round, retaining its second place in the provisional 2025 championship standings with a total of 70 points.

Thomas Baudry - Chief Technical Manager
“It wasn't an easy week for us because it took us a while to find the right set-up. The constant change from wet to dry didn't make the job any easier and we used qualifying to fine-tune the bike. We weren't the most competitive in the dry, but we were more at ease in the wet. Given the race conditions, we're happy to finish fifth. It keeps us in 2nd place in the championship. Now it's up to us to keep up our efforts. That's why we're leaving next week for a 4-day test in Japan, to give it our best at Suzuka and try to take the lead in the championship.”

Grégory LEBLANC - rider
“Honestly, for me fifth place was a bit of a target at the start of the week. A top five finish was reasonable because we lacked a bit of power to do better on a circuit like this. We were hoping for a lot more rain, but we managed to get through the pitfalls. Of course, we would have liked to finish on the podium after that fine podium at Le Mans, but we have to take the positives. We scored some big points for the championship, we're still second, we didn't make any mistakes and we didn't crash. So that's pretty good and we need to go to Suzuka with the same mindset to keep scoring points.”
