Tommy Searle ninth in Sweden

Tommy Searle of the Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team finished ninth in the sixteenth round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship at Uddevalla in Sweden.

The Englishman once again profited from the superb power of the KX450-SR to post impressive starts in both races but he lost several places during the intense opening laps of moto one to be pushed down to eleventh before an impressive recovery saw him advance to eighth place at the chequered flag. Settling more quickly in race two Searle maintained eighth place in the wheel tracks of the defending champion for ten of the eighteen laps in the second moto until a momentary loss of drive cost him two places and he had to be satisfied with tenth in a tightly-packed leaderboard.

Tommy Searle: “I’m still struggling with my hand so I’m happy with the results and as we have a break next weekend, I hope I can come to Turkey a little more confident. The bike really helped me a lot at the starts. I’m still struggling a little on Saturday but I’m focused on Sunday and the races. I’m happy with the overall results; my thanks to the team! On this track it was easy to make a mistake so my goal this weekend was to take good starts and not take any risks.”

Alessandro Lupino of Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki put in a solid ride to advance from fourteenth on lap one to eleventh at the finish of race one but was eliminated in the early stages of race two.
