Jordi Tixier to miss the MXGP of Mexico

Clement Desalle will be the single representative for the Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team this weekend at the FIM MXGP of Mexico, as Jordi Tixier will undergo corrective surgery this Wednesday.

The Frenchman rode impressively during the MXGP of Argentina ten days ago, posting twice the second fastest lap in the practice session which was his first appearance on this track! Starting the qualifying race on the inside gate Jordi was quickly into the top six when he hit a big hole after one of the biggest jumps on the track, landing hard and resulting in his crash. Retiring with a painful leg, he tried to race on Sunday but could only finish the first race in the points. With too much pain Jordi didn’t enter the second heat on the advice of medics. Back in France Jordi had further exams as his right leg was still painful and after visiting the most famous specialist in Paris he will undergo surgery tomorrow in Paris to repair a damaged tendon. Following the doctor’s advice he will be out of action for a few weeks, but is expected to be back racing soon.

Jordi Tixier: “You can’t imagine how disappointing it is to be out of action after three GP’s. I worked so hard this winter and the team did an awesome job to prepare my KX450F-SR which for me is surely one of the best MXGP bikes there is!  So being at home and missing some GP’s now away from the team is really hard to accept. But there’s no other solution for me as the adductor muscle in my right leg has been affected by the crash when my leg was in extension; so the best decision was to have surgery now and help avoid having anymore troubles with it again in the future.”
