Almost a double podium for F&H Kawasaki at Loket

F&H Racing duo Henry Jacobi and Adam Sterry each posted career-best results in the Czech round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship with the German second overall and the Welshman fourth.

The Loket raceway was in prime condition as Jacobi immediately settled into a solid fourth place in the first GP moto, his persistence paying dividends two-thirds of the way through the race when he inherited second place as the two riders directly ahead of him crashed together. The German was even more impressive in race two as he applied the pressure from a third-placed start to dive inside the rider in second after thirteen minutes and immediately distance his chasers. A career-best-equalling second place overall was already secure and the F&H duo were the fastest riders on the track throughout the second half of the moto as teammate Sterry closed Jacobi down in the final stages and the German wisely did not risk his podium finish when the Welshman surged around him four laps from the finish. The result has also revived Jacobi's hopes of a world series medal; he remains fifth in the standings but is now only three points behind fourth and fourteen shy of third with five GPs remaining.

Henry Jacobi: "Ever since my last podium at Matterley Basin we knew that I had the speed for podium results, but I got too many fourth positions! Finally I rode without any mistakes again and after two good starts I could ride two strong races. All the lines were broken on the track after the first MXGP race; I watched that race so I knew that you had to use the outside lines in our second moto. It was good for me to get a great start in the second moto, then when Adam came I knew that a third position was enough to get the podium so I didn’t risk making any stupid mistakes. And two-three is great for spirit in the entire team.»

It was nearly a sensational double-podium for F&H Racing as Sterry missed the post-race celebrations by just a single point following a stunning ride to second place in race two. The Welshman, who had already put in solid performances throughout Saturday qualification, was not deterred by a difficult start to race one which left him initially eleventh but he advanced methodically to sixth at the close. A fifth-placed start in race two was the impetus for an impressive charge to second place, the final enthralling pass around teammate Jacobi coming four laps from the finish. His thirty-seven point haul was just one short of the podium but both the moto result and the overall placing were career-best performances. He has advanced to sixth in the championship standings.

Adam Sterry: « This has been a very positive weekend for me. In the first moto I didn’t get a great start and worked my way up to sixth, then my start in the second moto was better and I pushed all race to finish second. I just missed the podium by one point, but the most important thing is that I was very happy with my riding and I’ll take that to Lommel next weekend."

Brian Moreau rode a solid first moto for Bud Racing Kawasaki to advance strongly from twelfth place on lap one to secure eighth place seven laps from the end and hold it to the finish. The French teenager never settled into the same rhythm in race two to cross the line seventeenth for thirteenth overall. Bud colleague Mitchell Harrison got closed down at the start of each moto and had to battle hard from the back of the pack; in the first moto he needed just three laps to move into a points-scoring position and maintained his charge to finish twelfth.
